CREW Files Open Records Request with Florida AG’s Office Regarding Trump University

On March 17, 2016 filed an open records request with Florida’s Office of the Attorney General
seeking records and communications relating to Attorney General Pam Bondi’s 2013 decision to
not join a lawsuit involving Trump University and/or to not investigate the Trump Institute after
the office received complaints that the company committed fraud in the state.
In 2013, after New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit against
Trump University, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Pam Bondi told the Orlando Sentinel
that the office was reviewing the allegations raised by Attorney General Schneiderman in order
to determine whether to join the lawsuit.  The Florida Office of the Attorney General, however
subsequently declined to join the lawsuit or open its own investigation.
