Between seemingly boundless personal expenses and aggressive earmarking that has inflated his own net worth, Sen. Shelby has turned his Senate seat into a profitable investment.

Sen. Shelby and his wife have claimed more than $527,000 in reimbursements from the senator’s campaign committee and leadership PAC, more than double the amount claimed by the senator with the second-highest total. Sen. Shelby has earmarked and appropriated millions of dollars to revitalize downtown Tuscaloosa, where the senator owns an office building that houses his title company and his nephew’s law firm.
