Today CREW, along with a coalition of ten organizations, signed a letter to the House asking members to support and co-sponsor H.R. 425. This bill would essentially shut down individual candidate Super PACs, which are used to circumvent cadidate contribution limits, and would strengthen the rules prohibiting coordination between candidates and outside spending groups. These PACs raise and spend unlimited contributions and serve as vehicles for donors and cadidates to bypass and eviscerate the contribtion limits that apply to the candidate's campaign limits enacted by Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court to prevent corruption. Candidate Super PACs are among the most dangerous results of the Citizens United Supreme Court decision.
